Everton Lunchtime Round-Up, Tuesday 27th October 2026: Big Dunc Wants Backing for Barry as Carabao Cup Clash with Newcastle Looms

Duncan Ferguson has been having his say on Everton's attack, suggesting the Blues either need to bring in an upgrade on Thierno Barry or find a way to give him more support as David Moyes weighs up his striking options (Read Everton).

Seamus Coleman hasn't held back either, teaming up with Jamie Carragher to criticise the club's recent transfer business, questioning the logic of selling a striker before bringing a replacement in (Liverpool Echo). The former captain, who's currently without a club, has also opened up on his future, admitting he's "edging towards" retirement though he isn't ready to fully close the door on playing again just yet (BBC Sport).

Everton legend Peter Reid has weighed in too, saying he'd still like to see the Blues give the cup competitions a proper go this season, even if he accepts the thin squad numbers make it something of a 'Catch-22' situation (Liverpool Echo).

That cup focus is timely, with Everton preparing to host Newcastle United at Hill Dickinson Stadium in the Carabao Cup on Thursday, and fans can now find full details on how to watch the tie both in the UK and USA (Prince Rupert's Tower).
