Everton Women v Newcastle United Women live: score, updates and line-ups

Full time at Goodison Park: Everton Women 2-0 Newcastle United Women. A cagey, goalless first hour gave little away, punctuated only by yellow cards for Kiernan, Cataldo and Vignola, before substitute Vignola made the breakthrough with a quickfire double in the 81st and 84th minutes. Newcastle had no response in the time left, and Everton see out a deserved win built almost entirely on that late burst from Vignola.

Into the sixth minute of stoppage time now and Everton look firmly in control, with Vignola's brace having settled things after that long goalless stretch. Newcastle have made another change through Purfield but there's been nothing to suggest a way back for them, while Everton have freshened things up further with van Gool's introduction. Goodison looks set to see out a deserved 2-0 win.

Vignola breaks the deadlock in style - a quickfire double in three second-half minutes turns a tense stalemate into a comfortable lead for Everton. The substitute's goals at 81' and 84' have Goodison buzzing as Newcastle now chase the game with little time left.

Goodison remains deadlocked past the hour mark, with the game turning scrappier rather than more clear-cut. Both benches have been used, Momiki coming on for Everton, Gale for Newcastle, but it's bookings rather than chances defining this spell, with Cataldo and Vignola both shown yellow in quick succession. Still nothing to show on the shot count for either side as we head into the closing stages.

Still deadlocked at Goodison with the second half yet to produce a shot from either side - the only real talking point has been Kiernan picking up a yellow card for Newcastle shortly after the restart. Rendell has come on for Tamminen, but otherwise it's the same story as before the break: Everton and Newcastle cancelling each other out with neither Foster nor the Newcastle keeper called into action.

Still nothing doing at Goodison as we approach half-time - the stat sheet remains completely blank with no shots, corners or saves recorded for either side. It's been a stalemate in midfield for 40 minutes now, with Everton and Newcastle still cancelling each other out and neither Foster nor Tamminen tested yet.

Still goalless and still goalless on the stats sheet - half an hour gone at Goodison and neither side has registered a shot, corner or a save for Foster or Tamminen. It remains a cagey, scrappy affair with Everton and Newcastle cancelling each other out in midfield rather than threatening either goal.

A fairly quiet opening quarter of an hour at Goodison Park with the stats sheet still blank across the board – no shots, no corners, nothing to separate the sides yet. Everton and Newcastle are still feeling each other out in a cagey start, with neither keeper, Foster nor Tamminen, having had a save to make so far.
